On Nov. 25th 2013 we welcomed our 4th child at 36 week, we named him Lorenzo Davis Montoya, he was 7 lbs 4 oz and 20 inches long, he was a happy baby. On the morning of July 24th 2014, I got up to get ready for work and just before it was time to leave I got Lorenzo up to get ready for daycare, he always woke up so happy, I dropped him off at daycare and kissed him good by, that was at 6:40 am and went to work. About 9:30 I got a call from the babysitter that Lorenzo wasn’t breathing and she called 911 and was doing CPR, I knew then my baby was gone, he was then rushed to the hospital I work at, I meet him in the ER and sat and waited for them to do everything they could, but I knew we had lost him, I knew then it was SIDS, my baby was put on his tummy for all his naps at daycare, I never knew that or did I ever put him to sleep like that. The Dr. came to me and told me that they were going to try one more round of CPR on my Lorenzo but after that there wasn’t anything more they could do, so I went and stood with my baby holding his hand kissing him and telling him that I love him, after they called it, I siat and held my baby for almost an hour, thinking all he needed was his mommy to start breathing again. As a CNA I know that I had to put my baby down and walk away, that was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. Lorenzo passed away just one day before he would have been 8 months. It’s sad the daycare is still open, like it was ok to put my baby on his tummy to sleep, I live in CA and that needs to change.
